Studies in Continuity of Planning

Author: National Capital Park & Planning Commission
Date: December 1928
PDF Source: NCPC

Description

This series of plates presented annotated images of major planning efforts and representative building projects in the agency’s 1928 Annual Report supplement (see 1928 Report).

The effort reflected NCPPC’s emergence as the national capital’s planning agency. Content, including Beaux-Arts-designed facilities and schemes of “The Mall” or “Central Area” reflected prevailing civic interest in implementing the McMillan Plan (see McMillan Plan).

NCPPC refined and published updated monographs of its Central Area planning, including in 1937, 1941, and 1952 (see 1941 Central Area Plan). Some addressed portions of this area (see 1929 East of the Capitol).
